Easter Message of Bishop Jasmin Milić (2026)

Dear in Christ,

This Easter, we once again confess a powerful truth: Christ is risen and has conquered death—the greatest enemy of humanity—as well as all that burdens the human heart: fear, anxiety, doubt, unbelief, and despair.

In days when the world is shaken by uncertainty, divisions, and armed conflicts, this Easter truth resounds more strongly than ever. The risen Christ brings victory over the grave and a peace that surpasses all human understanding, a peace that calms every restless heart. He comes to His disciples with the words, “Peace be with you!”—and this same peace He grants to us today.

Therefore, as followers of Christ, we are called to be bearers of that peace in a world wounded by conflict. While many raise voices of hatred and division—even some who call themselves Christians—true Christians are called to proclaim the resurrection: the resurrection of hope, the resurrection of reconciliation, the resurrection of peace among people. For wherever the risen Christ comes, new life is born.

Easter is the feast of hope! As Christians who have come to know the One who gives meaning to both the present and the future, we do not lose hope even in these troubled times. Christ is risen! His resurrection awakens us anew, encourages us, and fills us with new strength for life. He grants us the fullness of life—He gives us Himself, for He is Life.

Easter is the feast of joy! The Easter joy of those who have encountered the One who is the “Resurrection and the Life” does not fade, nor can it be silenced by the circumstances in which we live. When the earth trembled and the heavy stone was rolled away from the tomb, heaven rejoiced. That joy overflows to us as well, whom Christ has delivered from the dominion of darkness and brought into the light of life. Therefore, the Christian joyfully proclaims: “Jesus is alive! Alleluia!”

Easter is the feast of victory! By His glorious resurrection, Christ has won the final victory—victory over sin, death, and every evil that wounds humanity and the world. Let us raise this banner of victory high above all troubles that bring fear, uncertainty, and division among people. In the light of the resurrection, even the darkness of war loses its final word, for Christ is the victor over every enemy of humankind. Therefore, the believer can cry out with the Apostle Paul: “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:55).

Let us once again recall the words of the preacher and human rights advocate, Martin Luther King Jr.: “Christianity affirms that out of the long struggle between good and evil, good will ultimately triumph… Good Friday must give way to the triumphant glory of Easter!”

Therefore, let us not lose hope even in these times. Let us lift our eyes to the Risen One and allow Him to fill our hearts with peace, faith, and trust as we walk through this life toward our final goal—the encounter with the Risen Christ.

ALLELUIA! CHRIST IS RISEN!
THE LORD IS RISEN INDEED! ALLELUIA!

A happy and blessed Easter!

At Easter 2026
