The Most Rev. Dr. Mouneer Hanna Anis, former Anglican Bishop of Egypt and the first Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Alexandria, is visiting Serbia and Croatia from 16 October 2026. During his visit, he has met with senior Church leaders, preached at worship services in Belgrade, Tordinci and Osijek, and participated in discussions on the challenges facing Christianity in the contemporary world. His visit continues with engagements in Zagreb and Rijeka, including an interreligious conference that is the primary purpose of his journey.
Meeting with Cardinal Ladislav Nemet in Belgrade
On Friday, 16 October 2026, Archbishop Mouneer Anis was received by His Eminence Cardinal Dr. Ladislav Nemet, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Belgrade.
Archbishop Anis was accompanied by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Jasmin Milić, Bishop of the Reformed Episcopal Pannonian-Danubian Diocese, the Rev. Dr. Vedran Obućina, and the Rev. Dr. Sergej Beuk.
During the warm and cordial meeting, Archbishop Anis spoke about the situation of Christians in Egypt, the challenges they face in everyday life, and the circumstances in which Christian communities continue their witness and ministry.
The conversation provided an opportunity to exchange experiences concerning the life and mission of the Church, with particular attention to mutual understanding, Christian fellowship, and cooperation between different ecclesiastical traditions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, gifts were exchanged as a sign of mutual respect and friendship.

Visit to the Church of Saint Sava
Following the meeting with Cardinal Nemet, Archbishop Anis visited the Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade, accompanied by Bishop Jasmin Milić and the Rev. Dr. Vedran Obućina.
The visitors were welcomed and guided through the church by Protodeacon Mladen Kovačević, who introduced them to the history of its construction, its architectural features, and its magnificent interior decoration.
He also explained the spiritual and cultural significance of the church for the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian people.
The visit offered Archbishop Anis an opportunity to become more closely acquainted with the Serbian Orthodox tradition and the rich spiritual heritage represented by this important place of worship.

Worship Service, Confirmation and Christian Forum in Belgrade
On Saturday, 17 October, Archbishop Anis preached during the morning worship service of the Reformed Episcopal congregation in Belgrade, held at the Roman Catholic Church of Christ the King.
The service was also marked by the joyful occasion of receiving a new member into the Church through confirmation.

Following the worship service, a public forum entitled “Christianity at the Crossroads: Egypt, the Middle East and the Balkans” was held, focusing on the situation of Christian communities and the challenges facing Christianity in the twenty-first century.
Alongside Archbishop Mouneer Anis, the speakers included the Rev. Dr. Aleksandar Milojkov of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Rev. Dr. Vedran Obućina, a priest of the Reformed Episcopal Church serving in Rijeka, Croatia.
The discussion was moderated by the Rev. Dr. Sergej Beuk, priest of the Reformed Episcopal congregation in Belgrade.
The forum provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the Christian witness in different cultural and religious environments, the challenges of secularisation, the situation of Christians in the Middle East, and the importance of dialogue and cooperation among Christian traditions.
The event also highlighted the importance of maintaining a faithful Christian presence in societies experiencing significant political, cultural, and demographic changes.
Archbishop Anis Preaches in Tordinci and Osijek, Croatia
On Sunday, 18 October, Archbishop Mouneer Anis continued his pastoral visit in Croatia, where he preached at two worship services of the Reformed Episcopal Pannonian-Danubian Diocese.
In the morning, he preached at the Protestant Reformed Parish in Tordinci, one of the historic centres of the Protestant Reformation in Croatia, where the Reformed tradition dates back to 1551.
The worship service brought together members of the local congregation for a time of prayer, fellowship, and encouragement in the Christian faith.
Following the service, Archbishop Anis also met with Davor Adžić, Mayor of the Municipality of Tordinci. The meeting provided an opportunity for a cordial exchange and reflected the importance of the historic Protestant community in the religious and cultural life of the local area.
In the evening, Archbishop Anis preached at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Osijek, where the congregation gathered to welcome their distinguished guest and worship together.
Both services were occasions of encouragement and fellowship, strengthening the bonds between the Reformed Episcopal communities in Croatia and the wider Anglican world.
The visit was particularly meaningful for the Reformed Episcopal Pannonian-Danubian Diocese, whose ministry encompasses Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a growing commitment to evangelism, church planting, theological education, and cooperation with other Christian communities.

Archbishop Anis will continue his engagements in Croatia over the coming days, including visits to Zagreb and Rijeka, together with the Rev. Dr. Vedran Obućina.
An important part of his programme will be his participation as a speaker at an interreligious conference, which is the primary purpose of his visit to the region
